Vintage V8: 1970 Rover 3500 P6
The Rover P6 was released in 1963 as a clean sheet design to replace the P4 & P5. The P6 included a number of advanced features, including a de Dion tube rear end with inboard disc brakes, and a unibody design with unstressed body panels bolted to the frame — similar in concept to the Citroën DS. It might not be as iconic as the DS, but it is a cool classic, and prices couldn’t be more reasonable. Find this 1970 Rover 3500 P6 here on eBay bidding for $999 with 2 days to go.
In 1968 Rover introduced a version of the P6 that was powered by a licensed version of the Buick 215 cubic inch V8. The Rover V8, as it is now known, is legendary for its alloy construction and was rated at 146 horsepower and 197 ft-lbs of torque when new.

Looking at the Mecum front plate, quick google shows it was sold at their Anaheim Auction last month (Nov). Should be able to log in to their website, or watch the replay of the auction on Fri between 9am-12pm to see what it brought.
I really like the look of it. Nice car.
These are very nice cars when brought to a higher level. The car of choice for the London Metro Police inspectors.
It sold for $1500 at Mecum and the eBay bid is approaching that. The car presented a LOT better at Mecum. Wonder if it was bought as a parts car only to be resold to recoup the cost or the car turned out to be a basket case. Either way, it still looks like a good buy around the current $1400 bid price.
