Uncrashed For Now: 1965 Ford Mustang

Everyone who enjoys driving cars should at least one time in his/her life go out and crash a Mustang. Wait. Not crash. I didn’t mean you should crash one into oncoming traffic doing a burn-out leaving a car show. DON’T DO THAT, I REPEAT, DON’T CRASH A MUSTANG. I meant, own a Mustang. Every car guy/gal should OWN a Mustang at some point in his/her car journey. Here is a good example from the original generation of the Stang. Keep it between the ditches. I’m 1/2 way thru restoring (driver restoration, not concours) my dad’s ’65 Mustang. I’ve already spent double what this one costs, and when I’m done, sad to say, dad’s won’t be as good as this.
If the underside isn’t rusty and the quarters are relatively bondo-free, this is a good deal.
i recall hearing that the front bumpers for next gen of mustangs – mach 1s in particular- in uncrunched condition from junkyards in 1970s were impossible to find. that crash comment in this post may have more than a grain of truth in it.
