Turbo Grumman Van: 1969 Ford Olsonette

If you have (or have had) a bunch of kids, you probably had a van or three in your driveway…because the garage is filled with strollers, bikes, and assorted kid crap. Anyway, I can recommend Toyota minivans from personal experience as these things will drive to stupid high miles with basic automotive care…but they abysmally boring to own and drive. But if you don’t want to fit in with your car pool, what you need is a chopped, and raked and turbo’d ex-bakery Van that is about as safe as a papier-mâché fireplace. If those kids ever start getting lippy, you just need a quick stab on the brakes to show them why old cars had un-padded dash and no seatbelts. Find this 1969 Ford Olsonette offered for $19,000 in Milford, MA via fakecrash moosebach and Hemmings. Tip from Cory.

Dark painted roof. I see no operable windows or indications of AC. oof. Coincidentally, today NPR carries a story about unionized delivery truck drivers getting a contract modification to help guard against excessive heat. https://www.npr.org/2023/07/20/1188282961/delivery-drivers-want-protection-against-heat-but-its-an-uphill-battle
Just drive around with the doors open as god intended. I don’t see any seat belts so you might want to hold on tight to the wheel, though.
I love Grummans – made by the same company as the Lunar Lander, a whole lot of airplanes, and those wonderful canoes.
I have fond memories of the Ford 300 six.
Something about this is not appealing, perhaps the paint. Maybe if it were stripped and polished aluminum.
Hire a sign painter to add large vintage Shell Oil logos on the sides and consider it done.
