This Was The Future: 2015 Honda CR-Z EX

In 2011 Honda launched the much anticipated Honda CR-Z, which was lauded as the return of CR-X. Could the CR-Z follow the lightweight form-follow-function minimalism that was so successful in the original CR-X. The problem is that Honda shoved a bunch of Hybrid gizmotronics into the car and it pushed the scales at over 2700 lbs. At that point if you want something fun with a Honda badge, you could get a 6-speed Fit or Civic. The end result is that the hoards of Fast & Furious lovers didn’t love it and the CR-Z didn’t sell well (less than 5k units most years and most owners were middle aged “cat” ladies) and was unceremoniously canned after the 2016 model year. So much for the return of the CR-X. Still, I can’t help but wonder if they didn’t have something interesting here, great fuel economy, low emissions, manual box…save the planet and drive a manual gearbox? Is it possible? Find this 2015 Honda CR-Z EX offered for $18,500 in San Jose, CA via craigslist. Tip from Matt V.
