Stepping into a Buick dealer in 1992 and looking at the 2-door coupes must have been a strange experience. Starting at the bottom end of the cost spectrum you could get an ugly compact thing called a Skylark based on the N-body. Too small– so you upsize to a mid sized Century coupe and maybe […]
The first generation Buick Regal was just a version of the full-sized Century with some extra options, but in 1978 Buick introduced a new Regal on a downsized A-body (later renamed to G-Body in 1982) that was hit. GM sold plenty when new and today they have a strong cult following — with many owners modifying them to look cleaner and boosting the horsepower of the original V6 or V8 engines. This next one has a late model LS based 5.3 small block (probably an LM7) and is certainly a hoot to drive. Find this 1983 Buick Regal bidding on eBay for $6,700 with 5 days to go located in Natchez, MN.
Stepping into a Buick dealer in 1992 and looking at the 2-door coupes must have been a strange experience. Starting at the bottom end of the cost spectrum you could get an ugly compact thing called a Skylark based on the N-body. Too small– so you upsize to a mid sized Century coupe and maybe find an unsold LeSabre coupe from a previous model year, or an unsold ’91 Reatta if you are feeling more sporty. You could also get a Riviera Coupe (with available Buick Graphic Control) which fit into the personal luxury coupe market segment…but if you really wanted the sportiest coupe from 1992 there was only one answer…the Buick Regal GS. It wasn’t just Sport…it was Gran (not Grand) Sport. Find this 1992 Buick Regal GS Coupe offered for $3995 in Ft Myers, FL via craigslist.
Once upon a time, in a galaxy far far away, a really long time ago, there was a parallel universe where bearded Spocks ran amok. They snatched the inventor of the Buick V6 and forced him to work at 7-11s (which only dispense soylent green from warm slurpee machines…it is a really terrible place) and […]
For this week’s Thursday Twister, it is time to start thinking about taxes — not paying them, but what are you going to do with that juicy return. According to some article I read on the world wild web, the average US return for the 2015 tax year was $2,860, so that is your budget. What do […]
The Pontiac Fiero is one of the unsung heroes of the American 80s car scene. It doesn’t get top billing at car shows around the country, but it offers a fun combination of composite body and mid engine handling in a stylish package…but it gets even better when you turn up the power. Find this […]
The Grand Tour has been a surprisingly good replacement for the old BBC Top Gear — the new BBC version with the guy from Friends and the guy with the big glasses (oh wait…goggles guy got the sack) had the same great production value but was lacking in chemistry. It was as if NASA had […]

I know what you are thinking. Who wants to read a feature about a crummy 1996 Oldsmobile Aurora? Look closer, however, and you will find that this is actually two crummy Buick Regals that have been sawed in half and welded together. The question is, what would you do with it?
