The little first generation Toyota Rav4 didn’t make a blip on my automotive radar when they were launched, but I’m strangely attracted to them now that they are 25 years old. You could get the little SUV with all-wheel-drive and a locking center differential and a manual gearbox to boot! Find this 1998 Toyota RAV4 […]
The first generation Toyota RAV4 was built for the 1995 through 2000 model years on a platform that borrowed parts from the Toyota Carina and Corolla. Toyota continues to sell RAV4s today, but the first generation was the only platform to offer a cool looking 2-door version that you see here today. The seller is […]
The Toyota line-up around 2006 was pretty awful. Well…not if you were the typical consumer who loved driving affordable cars for miles without unnecessary breakdowns or huge fuel bills…but you ARE NOT that typical consumer because you are reading this website. It was awful for the performance enthusiast who loves the rush of accelerating and beating that half asleep old guy in the So-Cal freeway on-ramp drag races (listen up Caltrans on-ramp light designers — you’ve got TWO lanes and TWO lights…why do they go green at the exact same time if not to promote street racing)…but if you accidentally ordered a Rav4 with the V6 and AWD you got into a car that was unexpectedly quicker than any other new Toyota and surprisingly fun to drive on-road or off. Find this 2008 Toyota Rav4 V6 AWD offered for $8000 in New York via craigslist. Tip from Cory.
I spent some time bashing front-wheel-drive automotive based crossover SUVs in the Suzuki Vitara post the other day…but if given the choice, would you take the Vitara over a Rav4? And what if that Rav4 was covered in the ultimate tribute to the 90s paintjob? Oh man. And it’s 4X4 instead of just rear-wheel-drive. This is a difficult decision. You tell me in the comments which compact sportish ugly vehicle you’d pick. Find this 1996 Toyota Rav4 4X4 offered for $4,500 in San Mateo, CA via craigslist. Tip from Rock On!
You don’t see a lot of Toyota RAV4s on the pages of DailyTurismo…but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t own one because they offer a level of usability and reliability for a light crossover that is almost unmatched…and the older ones are starting to become cool…in a goofy way. Today’s first generation RAV4 is a 3-door […]
