I’m all for engine swaps — imagine how much fun a W123 Mercedes-Benz would be with a Cummins B-Series 12-Valve 5.9 liter turbo diesel. That’d be the bees knees. However, you’d then be left with an engineless Ram 1500 and an OM617 3-liter diesel engine…no, don’t do it. Just sell them both on your local […]
Oh man, this seems like a lot of money for an 80s Dodge pickup truck..and who am I to judge the price of used vehicles…wait…I’m EXACTLY the person to judge the price of 80s junkers and yell from the treetops “DON’T OVERPAY FOR NOSTALGIA”. But I will admit one thing, this isn’t the truck with […]
If you tell people that you’ve got a V10, manual gearbox, and 4-wheel-drive they are going to assume you are driving around in a Lamborghini, until you tell them you can sleep 4 people in the back. Then they get really confused and typically stop talking to you. But they don’t understand and they never […]
This next car come as a seller submission from Hugh, who wants $500 or trade for Miata for his truck: It is time to deaccession this Dalton highway spec Dodge Ram 250 Cummins turbo diesel pickup from the family fleet. My uncle, who crewed on the Garretson Enterprises LeMans ( Paul Newman) and IMSA (1981 24 Hours of Daytona win with Bob Garretson Brian Redman and Bobby Rahal ) teams, drove on the one lap of America a few times, and did the great American cross country race in a Studebaker Indianapolis race car and numerous other auto adventures, bought this for a trip to the Arctic circle because he really liked driving to out of the way places.
The vast majority of “Official” Indy 500 Pace Car’s you’ll find on the street are Chevrolet Corvette and Camaros. Not only did Chevy sponsor the event many times over the years since the first pace car in 1911 (52 times to be exact), but they’ve had the “Official” pace car in back-to-back-to-back years since 2002. However, Chrysler got into the fray a few times, the last of which was in 1996 when they put Maximum Bob Lutz in a Dodge Viper in front of the pack of Ford Cosworth boosted speed machines hit a 239.3mph average lap speed (a record that stands to this day 25 years later)..no, not the Dodge Viper, but the actual IRL cars — anyway this next car is one of 2800 Dodge Ram Pace Trucks that were built by Chrysler to celebrate the event. Find this 1996 Dodge Ram 1500 Pace Truck offered for $7,395 in Willow Glen, CA via craigslist. Tip from Rock On!
This next car comes as a tip from Matt C who writes; For everyone’s inner 8 year old; This one wasn’t posted in the regular Marketplace on Facebook, but for only $12,000 for a Cummins powered mega mud truck, I’m passing it on anyway. Ohh…yes…there isn’t an 8 year old on earth that wouldn’t be in heaven with this truck and a book full of fart jokes. Find this 2000ish Dodge Ram 1500 offered for $12,000 in Texarkana, TX via thefaceblight.
I was talking a friend the other day who is a truck guy, and he asked me my advice on a diesel pickup truck. I’m not one to go around spouting off random opinions…oh wait…that is exactly what DT is, so I AM someone to go around spouting random opinions, so here goes; don’t buy a newish diesel pickup with one of them fancy twin-turbo common rail diesel V8s mated to a 8-speed auto and instead always insist on a classic diesel inline-6 single turbo and a manual gearbox like this next Cummins ISB 5.9 powered beasty. Find this 2003 Dodge Ram 3500 Diesel offered for $18,400 in Yuma, AZ via craigslist. Tip from Rock On!
This next car truck comes as a tip from SecondMouse who writes: The Dodge Power Wagon is revered among Mopar truck owners, and this is a handsome 4×4 example from 1975. If you think your neighbors get too much sleep, then you need to be cranking up this 440 whenever the mood strikes you. Painted Batman […]
