(by CFlo) If you’re a fan of the 1985 blockbuster Back to the Future (and who isn’t?) you might remember seeing all manner of Detroit Iron in the background when Marty McFly was trying to blend in and set up his parents with each other after accidentally DMCing his way back to 1955. Remember the […]
As a young hockey loving kid, I always enjoyed the methodical way that a good Zamboni driver re-surfaces an ice rink with minimal overlap and maximum efficiency. There is something satisfying about seeing that freshly smooth ice and there is nothing better than being the first set of skates to chop into the virgin ice and leave a trail of curved lines and fresh shaved ice. It is quite possibly the opposite feeling of watching a Dumb and Dumber movie sequel, which leaves you in a state of wanting a time machine to go back and correct your path that lead you to this dark corner of the multiverse, but driving a movie prop Zamboni with a V8 from one of those Dumb movies…maybe that’d be worth it. Find this 1985 Zamboni V8 offered for $15,000 in Sylmar, CA via craigslist. Tip from Rock On!
The 1995 Judge Dredd blockbuster movie was both terrible and great all in the same action cam shot. It had all the recipe for greatness, Sly the Stallone, a young Diane Lane, badguy Armand Assante, and funnyman Rob Schneider…but where it fell apart was design choice for future 2205AD vehicles. Yes, the flying motorcycles were cool, but it didn’t have the future-chic style of cars in films like The Fifth Element (or Demolition Man) or the dirty machines of the various Mad Max movies…but it did have one cool vehicle, a people transporter that looks like a transformer. And now you can own one. Find this 1976 Land Rover 101FC offered for $25,000 in Dallas, TX via craigslist.
This next car is a very complicated piece of machinery. You know, a lotta ins, a lotta outs, lotta what-have-yous. Getting past the fact that this car was built by the Neanderthals at Gas Monkey Garage isn’t easy, but it does carry all of the charisma and charm of the Dude’s actual ride, plus you’ve got some window stickers to remind people you aren’t homeless, just a huge fan of the Coen brother’s 1998 classic, The Big Lebowski. Or perhaps both, because there is nothing wrong with that. Find this 1973 Ford Gran Torino offered for $6,900 in Richmond, VA via eBay.
The bidding on this next car is a tad optimistic. The glass isn’t just half full…the golden goblet is filled to the brim with emeralds and rubies, but wow…what an ad. The car is probably certainly terrible, but the youtube commercial is top notch. Find this 1996 Honda Accord EX bidding for something insane like $50k […]
It is Thursday… or post-hump-but-not-fri-day as it is known all around the globe — but that means it is time for DT’s weekly spleen pain causing quiz, the Thursday Twister. Time to ignore that enlarged vestigial glands and focus on finding the best car for a movie chase. You pick the car, you pick the […]
This next car is touted by the seller as “RARE and AMAZING” (ALLCAPS ARE HIS) which might be a bit of a stretch, but it seems like an awfully nice car for the money, but not one bit awful. Find this 1963 Volvo PV544 offered for $8,500 in Oakland, CA via craigslist. Tip from Kaibeezy. […]
Tomorrow (June 22nd, 2016) 1,500 theaters across the country are showing the original The Fast and The Furious. What car would you drive to the showing? Keeping in mind DT’s budget limit, scour your local craigslist for the perfect ride to granny-shift to and from the theater. Considerations: Wild paint and neon are great for […]
We spent most of Oct 21st, 2015 enjoying recreations of the vehicles from the Back to the Future trilogy, but apparently one of the actual movie cars was on its way to auction. Find this 1976 BMW 633CSi, Griff Tannen’s car from Back to the Future II here on icollector.com, heading to an online auction […]
Enter the world of the custom Batmobile at your own peril, for the things that live under rocks often have more legs than you’d like to admit. However, once in a while, a custom BatMobuilder gets things right, and builds something that you’d actually feel proud to daily drive. Like this 1984 Chevrolet Corvette Batmobile […]
