The Ford LTD (pronouced el-tee-dee) was first built in 1965 on the Galaxie platform as a top of the line for Ford’s full sized offerings. In 1979 the LTD was downsized to Ford’s Panther platform and in 1983 it was turned into a midsized thing on Ford’s Fox platform…which was a good thing for people who enjoyed a fun driving experience. The new rack-and-pinion steering, unibody construction, and drivetrain/suspension parts shared with the Mustang meant the LTD finally went from making its drivers sick to making its passengers sick. Find this 1985 Ford LTD LX 5.0 offered for $6000 in Berkeley, CA via craigslist. Tip from Rock On!
Classic car prices are always fluctuating, and for many various reasons, instead of slow appreciating with time, classics seem get a bump from cheap to expensive that happens overnight to the joy of sellers and detriment of buyers. But sometimes you can find a car that appears to have been priced without the recent bump factored in — as if the car is presented through a warp hole or time jump…and I am always happy to feature those cars, even if they might be from a dirty scammer. It’s hard to believe that the Fox Body Mustang is 41 years old….well not today’s example, but it is 31 and not exactly a spring chicken. Let me put that in perspective…imagine you are living in 1989 (that’s not that much of a stretch) and you tried to daily drive a Ford from 1958…or even […]
I’ve always been a moderate fan of Ford’s Fox-body Mustang — it does offer a decent platform with manual gearboxes, rear-wheel-drive, and V8 power — but with an emphasis on the later models that offer fuel injected engines and more power…but recently I’ve become obsessed with the quad-headlight Fox models…because..well…more is more. Find this 1983 Ford […]

The Police version of any car has a special attraction because of the cop shocks, cop steering, cop motor…etc…but within the Fox-body world it brings the added cool factor of being an LX notchback version. On all other Mustang body styles the fastback was way cooler, but with the Fox (1979-1993) it somehow flipped the […]
A few decades ago, Ford teamed up with 7-Up to (in the most American way possible) to promote cars and sugary soft drinks at the 1990 NCAA basketball championships. The idea was to give away 30 green Mustang convertibles to people who could make a half-court shot. Somewhere, someone got cold feet and the contest […]

The Fox generation Ford Mustang was built from 1979 through 1993 on a unibody chassis that was used for most of Ford’s dealer lineup in the 80s/90s from the basic Fairmont to the Lincoln Continental. Of course, the best Fox to get is probably the Mustang because it combines a relatively low curb weight with […]
