The Ford Aspire was a forgettable econohatch that was called the Festiva in various regions and used Mazda engines in its Kia built platform…but TLDR it’s an economy car build by various global automakers to meet the minimum requirements of transportation for a low price, but that’s not the important, what is important is that […]
Read out loud and really fast for best effect: Hello car fans and welcome to another edition of Unlikely Manuals — the game show where even if you lose, you go home with a sore left leg and copy of our home game. Today’s next contestant is a late model Korean economy car with a plastic engine cover emblazoned with a meaningless acronym related to its particularly fuel injection strategy (nobody ever said; I wasn’t gonna buy this car because I wasn’t sure about the method of fuel injection, until I popped the hood and saw the chromed GTDiMqVPDQ badge and then I was sold) and you’d expect to open the door and be greeted with some steering wheel mounted buttons that were connected to a CVT that has all the positive engagement and auditory appeal of an immersion blender in a can of marbles. Lo and behold, if you look past the low rent cloth seats and black plastic interior trim that was inspired by the Harbor Freight free coupon lineup, you’ll find a manual gearbox shifter. Granted, that shifter might have the feel of an immersion blender in a jar of kimchi, but if I’m gonna drive an economy car and save on fuel, it better be manual gearbox…and I don’t care about the injection. Yesterday was November 1st, known in the Latin Catholic Church as All Saints’ Day and is a yearly celebration of Saints, and I missed the opportunity to post nothing but Volvo 1800s as driven by Mr Roger Moore in The Saint. However, today I will not miss the opportunity to take advantage of the lesser […]
The Lotus Elan M100 was a wedge shaped convertible penned by Peter Stevens (Jaguar XJR-15, McLaren F1, Lotus Esprit, MG ZR, ZS, ZT & TF) and built in the UK from 1989 through 1995…and later produced by Kia in South Korea under the name Kia Elan (and Kia Vigato). The Elan used a lightweight chassis […]
Daily Turismo Omologato is a series where we feature unique cars that are well above the normal DT priceline, but are unique, interesting, zany enough that we can pass them up…think of it like DT Private Reserve Mountain Dew Code Red. The Kia Sorento is a car based SUV/crossover family hauler built in West Point […]
