I gotta be honest with you guys…I don’t know what I’m looking at with this next car. It is advertised as being a ’78 Mustang with a V10 that was a multi-time show winning SEMA vehicle, and a Optima Ultimate Street Challenge Car and the photos show several different configurations, one with a finished car like this 2014 MustangsandFords article, but then the pictures change to what can only be described as a hulk of dissasembled parts waiting for a barn to be stored for the inevitable 20 years of rust and chicken poop it needs to be a barn find. I love the idea of a Mustang II with custom styling, a full Chebby Corbette C5 Z06 suspension, custom everything, and Triton V10…but I don’t know if that’s what you’ll get as the winner of this next auction. Find this 1978 Ford Mustang V10 custom bidding for $12,100 reserve-not-met with a few hours to go, located in Beaverton, OR via ebay.
The C5 generation (2002-2004) Audi RS6 is a car that should need no introduction to the modern car enthusiast. But in case you need a refresher, allow me to give you the details. The RS6 was based on Audi’s A6 sedan platform, but added a 4.2 liter twin turbo V8 that pushed 450 horsepower and 428 ft-lbs of torque into a 5-speed auto and all four wheels via Audi’s torsen-base Quattro system. It was also, lower, stiffer, brakier, and wider than the standard A6. In its day it was a monster and today the RS6 offers one of the best $/hp you can find on the street. Find this 2003 Audi RS6 offered for $13000 in Sioux Falls, SD via craigslist. Seller submission from Ben.
This next car was a hard one for me. Not because I don’t love the car…but because I love it a little too much…and frankly want to buy it and drive it every single day…because it is a 507 horsepower V8 powered wagon with room for 7 people, modern safety and reliability…and only 209k miles on the odometer. Yowza!! This is a risky purchase…but it is the only W211 E63 AMG in green in the USA (per the seller)…and is as rare as a unicorn with three horns. Find this 2007 Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG Wagon offered for $16,500 in Los Angeles, CA via craigslist.
The original iteration (1989-1991 & 1992-1995) Ford Taurus SHO (Super High Output) was a love letter from the engineers at Ford’s Special Vehicle Team to everyone who wanted to have fun in a sedan. It had a screaming Yamaha V6, a 5-speed manual gearbox, and Conan O’Brien’s seal of approval. In 1996 Ford introduced a V8 SHO that had more O in the SHO, but it lacked the S…because it was only available with a slushbox auto and buyers went elsewhere after 1999. A few years later (in 2010) Ford introduced a new version of the SHO that had a whopping 365 horsepower from a twin-turbo V6 EcoBoost engine and all-wheel-drive…but a 6-speed slushbox auto. Find this 2011 Ford Taurus SHO offered for $9995 or best offer in Cherry Hill, NJ via eBay.
I’m not one to go around making blanket statements like some kind of high horse ridin’ pundit…but here goes; the E46 M3 is the M3 you want to buy right now. Before we go any further, I want to state that this isn’t my car, although I have one that is very similar in spec/ color /condition /miles…give or take. Suffice to say, I know what I’m talking about when it comes to M3s and I know a little bit about the M3 market…more later. Find this 2003 BMW M3 E46 offered for $9,500 in Oldsmar, FL via eBay.
The E82 generation BMW 1-series coupe was released in the 2007 model year a few years after the E46 3-series was plus sized to the E90 platform…so to some folks, the 135i is the spiritual successor to the E46 — with the 1M and 135i being very close in capability and the natural successor to […]
If you are in the market for a fast small luxury sedan you probably have seen prices on 10 year old M3s and S4/S5 drop to sub $20k DT range…but wait…there is another Skywalker. And this one is arguably the most brutal of the group — it doesn’t have all-wheel-drive grip like the Audi or […]
The 4th generation of the BMW M3 was released in 2007 and it featured a big departure from previous models. Gone was the screaming inline-6 engine and in its place was a throaty V8…which was a heresy according to BMW fanboys but it sold quite well and the 414 horsepower and 295 ft-lbs of torque […]
The Audi S5 is a two-door version of Audi’s pavement pounding S4 sport sedan, but the S5 didn’t get the upgraded 3.0T supercharged V6 in 2009 and instead lived with the 4.2 liter V8 shared with the R8 through the 2012 model year. It isn’t a bad thing to have a screaming 7000 rpm V8 […]
I’m going to post this next car with a caveat that Brooklyn isn’t a good place to buy a car…or probably much of anything. The Big Apple is notorious for crappy roads, sketchy parking, bad weather, and well…New Yorkers. Everybody who isn’t trying to actually pick your pocket is probably trying to muscle something outta […]
