If you are going to drive something classic, it might as well be something that turns heads. Like a really expensive car that you can buy at one of those auction sites where everybody overpays? No. You don’t need to liquidate your 401K or own a gold mine, you need to buy a customized El […]
If you love cars that are unapologetically El Camino’d, velour, and pinstriped…you are in for a treat today. But if you don’t appreciate seeing torque-thrust style wheels covering rear drum brakes on a mid 90s domestic minivan, you might need to re-evaluate your priorities. Personally, I think this thing would make a great first car […]
The Chevrolet Astro van is not collectible or remotely desirable even in the most minty of condition or in the corporate cousin GMC Safari. However, if you chop off the rear end and turn it into a VANCAMINO, it suddenly looks sexier than a meerkat with a magic wand. Imagine the level of attraction to […]
Have you ever seen a car that more clearly exemplifies the creation of new homeowners association (HOA) parking rules? This is the kind of car that puts fear into the hearts of the typical Orange County bungalow owner and I want to part 3 of them on my lawn. There isn’t much better than a […]
This next car comes as a tip from Matt in Simi Valley who writes: Here you go for your latest El Camino’d compact. Not the worst looking final product, reminds me of the older Australian utes. Whoa…slow down, I’ll be the judge of custom El Caminoization projects. Hmmm. Not bad. Interesting construction on the B […]
The OG Ford Ranchero was released for the 1957 model year where it beat GM’s El Camino to the “coupe utility vehicle” market by two years. This was back when Edsel was still an actual thing (technically a sub-brand/division of Ford for the 1958, 1959, and 1960 model years), so it wouldn’t surprise you to […]
The first reaction you might have when you see this next car is: “Who El Caminos a Civic?” But you’d be wrong. What you should be asking is: “Who DOESN’T El Camino their Civic!?” The Civic is the perfect vehicle to chop off the rear roof/trunk section and build a trunk bed, and this next […]
The El Camino with a Laguna S-3 nose is very strange — it almost looks like what Chrysler would have built if they decided to make a Cordoba-camino. But putting that “aerodynamic” Laguna nose on the Camaro wasn’t something widely known, you had to use special COPO option codes to order it from the factory […]
Before everyone started making custom El Caminos out of every possible vehicle with 4 wheels, there was a vehicle from General Motors called the El Camino. It was introduced in the 1959 model year two years after Ford introduced their Ranchero, and used the same “coupe utility” style. You could take your mom’s Tesla Model […]
If you follow DT, you’ll know that we enjoy finding random coupes, sedans, wagons that have been turned into El Caminos…because everybody loves an El Camino. But what happens when an El Camino owner wants a wagon? The prudent answer might be to sell the El Camino and El buy yourself a wagon…but not today. […]
