The 4th generation of Chevrolet’s C/K series pickups added where the previous generation left off — not with speed or performance or style, but in ruggedness, usability, and haulability. The only homage to style could be perhaps the step side bed, which gives the owner a square bed at the expense of a few spare […]
A few months ago we had a fun time watching a lucky DT reader buy Hugh’s old Cummins powered Dodge farm truck for a few bones. This next truck is a Chevy that is equally dilapidated, but has an interesting engine swap. You could get a C/K truck in the 70s with a diesel, but it was the terrible Oldsmobile V8 diesel, not a proper commercial diesel. However, it appears that somebody shoved a CAT 1160 (which is an older version of Caterpillar’s 3208) Diesel V8 under the hood of this next hulk of metal and wood. This next truck is one of the millions of the third generation C/K trucks built by Chevy over a 19 year production lifespan (1972-1991)…but it has a diesel title and a built 402 ci big block under the hood — not a bad combo for California if I say so myself. Find this 1982 Chevrolet C20 Scottsdale offered for $8999 in West Hills of the SF Valley, CA via craigslist.
America’s obsession with the giant pickup truck started many years ago, back when gas was cheap and safety was a consideration that was second to most…but gas is still cheap when adjusted for inflation and safety is still something that people struggle to understand. So enjoy the good old days with this good old pickup. […]
The Christian feast of the Epiphany is celebrated on January 6th, (the word Epiphany comes from the ancient Greek work Τheophaneia meaning “vision of God”) and is a commemoration of the three Magi visiting the infant Jesus. Around here we celebrate the Epiphany on the 7th (because I’m a day late…okay) and with ridiculous cars. […]
