This next car is a painful reminder of the fragility of the human spirit. But more importantly, it is a steel/fiberglass memorial to the fact that we should never give up on our aspirations. It sits forlornly like a moss covered monument to all the dreams we had as a kid — I wanted to be Batman when I was 9, who didn’t?!!? But here it sits, like a giant full scale version of those little models we built as kids where the Testors glue would fog the glass and painting was a skill a kid didn’t have the patience, budget, or manual dexterity to match the photo on the box. Don’t give up Mr Wayne!! You’ve got this! You are so close, the box only contains those little injection molding rails and a few spare decals — this thing deserves a spot on your dresser, right next to that hockey trophy, it just needs another $15,000 and another 100 days of hard labor. We’ve covered a number of Batmobiles over the years to the horror of the public, but we seldom feature cover cars for Batman’s arch-rivals, such as the Joker…and there was the time that the Joker hacked DT. But, I don’t believe we’ve ever featured a ride for Batman’s other evil enemy — the Penguin. Let’s fix that today. This next car truck comes as a tip from SecondMouse who writes: The Dodge Power Wagon is revered among Mopar truck owners, and this is a handsome 4×4 example from 1975. If you think your neighbors get too much sleep, then you need to be cranking up this 440 whenever the mood strikes you. Painted Batman […]
The original Batmobile was futuristic looking two-seater built on the Lincoln Futura platform, which was cool, but difficult to replicate because the Futura was a concept car built by Carrozzeria Ghia in Turin, Italy. Today’s Batmobile is built on what appears to be the first generation Ford Granada chassis, and features a nose that would make […]
The Cadillac Eldorado was a gigantic front wheel drive personal luxury coupe that started life in 1967, although the name Eldorado was used on a convertible halo car as part of the series 62 platform starting way back in 1953. The big front drive under-steering boat won’t impress anyone with its RV handling characteristics, but […]

The original Batmobile was built by George Barris for that 60s TV show starring Adam West and Burt Ward, on top of a 1955 Lincoln Futura concept car and sold for $4,2 million in 2013. That is a bit too rich for my wallet, but if you want a cheap knockoff this seems the way […]
It is Thursday… or post-hump-but-not-fri-day as it is known all around the globe — but that means it is time for DT’s weekly spleen pain causing quiz, the Thursday Twister. Time to ignore that enlarged vestigial glands and focus on finding the best car for a movie chase. You pick the car, you pick the […]
There are some who might say that a labor of love is dropping 100K to restore a Porsche 356 that has been used as a planter box for the last 30 years. These people are wrong. Find this 1973 Pinto Wagon Batmobile for sale in Des Moines, IA for $1,550 via craigslist. When you are an 85-year-old […]
The Batmobile comes in many shapes/sizes, but the Tumbler version from the Dark Knight Trilogy (2005 Batman Begins, 2008 The Dark Knight, 2012 The Dark Knight Rises) is arguably the most utilitarian of the breed — form follows function. This next feature is a 2/3 scale version of the Tumbler built from scratch with a […]
