It was a strange world of coincidences when this next car came across the DT tips box. I was in Hawai’i on vacation when tipper Cory sent in this next beauty, which I would have loved to visit in person if I was on the same island, but alas my snorkeling skills aren’t strong enough […]
In these strange times of global conflict and economic uncertainty, people need heroes. No, not those idiots in tights from Marvel or DC, no not at all. The hero we are looking for is the builder of custom El Caminoized things all of all kinds. Like this next thing, which is a Mercedes-Benz W123 chassis […]
This next car comes as a tip from David in Tampa who writes: I’ve had a succession of diesel Mercedes: a mint condition manual ’75 240d in burnt orange, a burgundy ’82 300d, a white ’82 300sd and finally an ’81 300sd. All bought on the cheap and all of them ready for a long […]
The W123 generation Mercedes-Benz E-Class is a slow and steady beast that is typically powered by a 4 or 5 cylinder diesel engine that pushes something sub 100 horsepower into the rear wheels. These are slow cars, but they will outlast the apocalypse because they are built like tanks. This next example, however, has been […]
I’ve bought some rough cars over the years — many of them that needed help getting home, but I’ve always been keen on getting a good title and a set of matching keys. This next car comes with neither of those things…or if it does have keys, you need a new ignition switch. It is not likely that this car is stolen, but I don’t believe that “out of the DMV system” is really a thing in California (although it might be a thing in the wild state of Nevada)…but the sketchiness factor to asking price is…ummm…not bad. Just watch your back when heading to a remote desert meet-up spot with $1400 in cash. Find this 1976 Mercedes-Benz 300D offered for $1400 in Pahrump, NV via craigslist.
It is lazy to post two cars in one craigslist advertisement…or genius? You save on the craigslist fees ($5 is $5…right?) and you get twice the exposure to your cars per click. And if you are trying to thin down your fleet…it isn’t a bad idea, especially if the cars are both the same make/model and ready for the next owners. Find these 1983 Mercedes-Benz 300TD W123 Wagons offered for $11,000 and $7,000 in Santa Monica, CA via craigslist. Double tip from Rock On & MikeD!
In the words of my old man: If I’ve told you once, I’ve told you a million times, don’t exaggerate!! So, when this next seller called this car the “Nicest 1981 Mercedes 300D on CL!” I don’t think they were totally accurate, but perhaps it is the nicest ’81 Benz for the very basic asking price? […]
As we start our annual countdown to turkey day, I’d like to kick things off with a fresh turkey from craigslist — yup, a genuine feathered foul that is fresh from the fryer. Find this 1987 Mercedes 300TD wagon offered for $5,500 in San Jose, CA via craigslist. From the seller: The vale of the car […]
The venerable Mercedes W124 is the euro jack of all trades. The many body styles of this E-class can be found in use as taxis, limos, wagons, convertibles, sporty coupes, and super sedans. The diesel drivetrains of this era of Mercs have a loyal following because the engines run forever and rack up hundreds of […]
As American luxury cars were adding gimmicks and trying to chase fads (opera lights…really? OPERA LIGHTS!!) the Germans were busy building cars that drove nice year, after year, after year. If you live in California and you are looking for a cool ’70s vintage car to enjoy without much work and you enjoy the stink […]
