STRMACH Turner: 1974 Chevrolet Vega

My parents had a Chevy Vega back before they had a bunch of kids, and to this day my old man claims was the worst car he ever owned. But his didn’t have a 300 horsepower Vette motor, nor a hacked off roof with a rear seat delete and shiny deep dish wheels. Could a few burnouts in this Vega remove the bad taste of a thousand break downs from his mouth? Find this 1974 Chevrolet Vega offered for $18,500 in Marine City, MI via craigslist.

See a better way to drive a hot rod? tips@dailyturismo.com
Reinforced for the weight of the motor. Great. And is the body reinforced for the chopped roof? If you open the doors, does it fold like a soft taco? When you give it the beans, does it twist like a churro? Why am I suddenly craving Mexican food?
Still, it’s a silly Vega, so count me in.
Those are the fanciest early Volvo 240 seats that I’ve ever seen.
i dont live in Michigan, so the plate transfer would be a full non starter. Think i would opt for COWL SHAK as my custom text.
In 1982 I was building up a 69 Malibu convertible that I bought with a junk engine no roof etc. The speed shop I frequented on a daily basis had a photo hanging behind the counter of a Vega drag car doing a hard launch and twisting itself in half right about at the windshield.
This reminds me of that photo.
My question is can you really call it a “convertable” if it has no top? I mean you could call it “converted” when you cut the top off, but it isn’t like you can put the top up w/o a folding or hardtop. Just a thought as my first bit of coffee trys to get my synapses firing.
Speaking of soft headed tacos, why would anyone think to streetrod a Vega? Just asking.
I don’t think you have a choice when you have the rare (and unknown) Vega ‘Streetmachine’ edition. Just saw a Kia sedan that was also an unknown special edition to me as the ‘Stan Da Man’ version
