Spy vs Spy: 2008 vs 2011 Chevrolet Tahoe PPV

Starting with the 1997 model year, Chevrolet offered a 9C1 police option on the GMT400 chassis that included parts from the defunct 454SS pickup to help cops catch the bad guys.  This eventually turned into the Police Pursuit Vehicle (PPV) package that was added to 2WD Tahoes for high speed police pursuit action.  Today we are playing a game of Spy vs Spy, and you get to pick your favorite: this white 2011 Chevrolet Tahoe PPV here on eBay for $13,950, or this black 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe PPV offered for $13,800 here on eBay.

If you want to play beat cop, you can pickup a P71 Crown Victoria, Dodge Charger, or Chevrolet Caprice, but if you want to drive around like you are some kind of Fed or a skinny wisecracking detective from that Law or Order show, you should get a police SUV.  But not the Ford Explorer – that would be a good car for your kids – no, you need a full sized monster Tahoe.

First up is the white cop wagon, a 2011 model year ‘Hoe with a 5.3 liter Vortec V8 good for 320 horsepower and 330 ft-lbs of torque.  The SUV looks in good shape with only 92,000 miles on the odometer, still has the front basher bumper, and as a bonus includes what looks to be the perp-partition from its days as a paddy wagon — perfect if you have an unruly dog or children.

The black Tahoe is also in decent shape given the 125k miles, and what it lacks in front bumper guard, it makes up in pure darkness of its…ok, not quite black, but original blue metallic paint job.  There is some utility belt wear/tear on the driver’s seat bolsters, but you probably won’t notice it once you are suited up as the Batman and cruising around town.

For your money, which would you buy, black or white?
