Sporty Swede: 2004 Volvo S60R

The Volvo S60R was Volvo’s early-2000s declaration that the sensible Swedes could build a genuine performance sedan without giving up their reputation for safety, practicality, or snow-crushing confidence. Underneath the reserved bodywork sits a 300-horsepower turbo five, Haldex all-wheel drive, big Brembos, and sporty suspension that let the S60R punch far above its weight (which was hefty) against German sport sedans of the era. The real charm, though, is how it blends Volvo quirks with serious pace — the iconic blue leather seats, the warbly five-cylinder soundtrack, and the ability to haul people, skis, or groceries at frankly irresponsible speeds in any weather. The example offered here has tasteful performance upgrades and long-term enthusiast care, but at heart it remains what every S60R is: a fast, confident, all-season sleeper from a time when Volvo built cars that were equal parts sensible and slightly unhinged. Seller’s description
Selling my Volvo S60RI have had this car for 9 years and it has been an absolute blast – only selling as I needed to get a truck for the house and I don’t have the space or ability to have two vehicles.
I have meticulously maintained and serviced this car for the entirety of the time I have owned it, oil changes every 5000 miles, preventative maintenance at every mileage marker where it was necessary. I have attached a spreadsheet of all of my maintenance as a picture on this listing, I also have most of the paperwork from all of these services as well. All work I did not do myself was done by Glasgow Automotive in St. Paul.
This car has the following notable upgrades:
- EightFab8 Downpipe
- Oval Pipe Exhaust (w/ res delete)
- Eibach Lowering Springs (Less than 1″ of height reduction)
- Do88 Drop-In Intercooler
- Stage 2 Tune (Shark) – ~350 HP (this has been a great tune, super reliable (9+ years with it), very quick, sounds great – read on Swedespeed about it) – also have the tuner with the stock tune so can be tuned/untuned as much as you like
- Full Stock Body Kit with Winglets (2x pair) and center lip
- 18″ Pegasus (Black Powder Coated) with Blizzaks (currently mounted)
- 18″ BBS SR 18×8 +42 5×108 Black-Mach Face with summer tires
I have pictures of all of the items that come with the car in the posting – pretty much everything you could need from a maintenance perspective.
Other extras (if you want any of these items separately please reach out) :
- 1 extra set of front winglets
- Extra rear bumper
- Replacement rear bumper pieces
- Headlight (cracked but has ballast)
It currently needs:
- Front passenger axle (I have a replacement for it that comes with the car – however I would get the original rebuilt and re-install it at some point – there are a few folks that do it relatively inexpensively)
- A/C blower motor – is goes in and out – I have this part too and it will come with the car. Pretty quick install.
I am not currently driving it more than once a week just to keep the battery tendered.
This is an amazing car, great to drive in the summer, fantastic in the snow – I hope someone else can enjoy it as much as I did.
