Sportmachines Shop Truck: 1993 GMC Typhoon
This next SUV masquerading as a sports car is a submission from seller TEAM Sportmachines which is a supplier of various Typhoon, Syclone, and Sonoma GT parts, service, and speed. The car is their shop truck which is covered in an appropriately nutty camo wrap and offered for a decent price. Find this 1993 GMC Typhoon offered for $12,800 in Victor, NY via craigslist or on the Sportmachines.net website.
The nice thing about buying a truck from a well known performance shop is that you know these guys aren’t taking the car to their local Maaco for maintenance or the Pep Boys that is staffed by a bunch of pimply faced teenagers who can’t tell the difference between a torque wrench and a pipe wrench. These guys will have the proper manuals, understand the shortcomings of the car and will have fixed everything and anything that needs sorting with the best available info.

The Typhoon (and its sister pickup version the Syclone) was powered by a 4.3 liter LB4 V6 with MHI TD06 turbocharger and a water-to-air intercooler that was rated at 280 horsepower and 360 ft-lbs of torque. This one has been modified with all manner of aftermarket parts and should be considerably quicker than a stock example, and I’d hazard to guess something in the 350-400 hp range.

It isn’t just a few bolt on parts, this thing has been given a massive makeover in the form of quick ratio steering and a big list of stuff you can read in the craigslist ad – or better, you can read here on the sportmachines website in a section dedicated to the “shop truck.” You can also find it on something called the Instagram…which is sadly lacking in both instant oatmeal and graham crackers…but has lots of pictures.

I like when people aren't so serious with their cars. It's creative

A likely excuse…and I mean that both ways.
