Some Assy Required: 1978 Sebring Kit Car

I’ve got a few cars in my stable right now that need a few things adjusted (let’s face it, when you’ve got a bunch of old cars, you always have a todo list)…but this next car is a bit more disassembled than any car I’ve ever sold. Which is probably because I prefer to buy my cars low and sell them high (who doesn’t!?!). But if you are on the buying side of the equation and have the time/energy/desire to assemble a cool vintage kit car, I think this next deal is about as good as it gets from a value perspective. Find this 1978 Sebring Kit Car offered for $8,300 in Mounds, OK via craigslist. Tip from Rock On!

To many projects so I will let this one go to a new home. Rare Kit car, less than 1500 made, as seen in the movie Cannon Ball Run II. Lamborghini inspired Complete kit that needs to be reassembled. Includes New motor, New T/A Radials, New leather and suede seats with new tracks, New Aluminum Fuel cell, New Italian Leather Steering wheel with matching shifter boot and brake handle boot, New Clutch Master cyl. and slave cyl., New Pedal assembly, New Brake master cylinder, New Shocks, New main harness and ignition switch, New Turn signal switch assembly, New Mirrors. This car was maufactered with the 4″ dropped floor pans for extra headroom. Electro/ hydraulic motors run the unique caopy roof which also has a removable sunroof. You also get a Beetle 4-speed manual transmission with starter, clutch and high performance trans brace, two axle shafts, power antennae, and heater blower motor, all glass. Beetle engine is a single port and is brand new and complete with carb, alternator, coil, distributor, already built ready to install. Plus many more parts not listed. Everything you need to complete the project. Good 1969 Beetle Title with current tag. 1978 fiberglass body built on a 1969 VW Beetle chassis. Super light, super fast, super good gas mileage, superb handling, double the speed limit on any off-ramp! Easily maintained. Cheap tags too! Once the weight of the motor/ trans and all the parts are back in the car it will squat down over the tires more, especially in the rear, this is a very low slung sports car. Calls only, no emails, no texts.

I always thought one of these would be a lot more fun if you could detach the roof / windshield. I would imagine a lot safer in a rollover too.
I agree. Thoughts of a rollover sucks all joy out the dream.
How much do these sell for when complete?
Here are some for $8,000 – 10,000 at 2019 prices.
