Small Fry: 1986 Austin Rover Mini

The classic Mini was built starting in 1959 and production didn’t stop until the year 2000, so you might be shocked to learn that the classic looking beast in front of you today was built the year when the UK and France annouced plans to build the Chunnel and Argentina was victorious at the World Cup of Football.  Find this 1986 Austin Mini offered for $9,000 in Converse, TX via craigslist. Tip from FuelTruck.

This little Mini has 61k kilometers on the clock and was originally imported by the owner from Italy, so it has a steering wheel on the correct side of the street….errr…car.  According to various sources on the internet the Italian Mini was powered by a 1.0 liter inline-4 that pushed 44 horsepower and 49 ft-lbs of torque into a 4-speed manual gearbox.  Performance is leisurely with 60mph exceeded in around 17 seconds and a top speed of about 80 mph, but you should get around 40 miles per gallon driving around town.
