Small Fry: 1958 Berkeley Sports SE328
Berkeley Cars Ltd of Biggleswade, Bedfordshire, England built front-drive sports cars with 2-stroke engines and glass-reinforced plastic bodies for a few years in the late 1950s. They are strange vehicles to see around, but supremely cool. Find this 1958 Berkeley Sports SE328 here on eBay bidding for $3,000 reserve-not-met with 4 days to go.
The Sports SE328 was built in 1957 and 1958 with a 328 cc Excelsior transverse two-stroke twin that pushed 18 horsepower into a 3-speed manual gearbox mated to the front wheels. A contemporary magazine test showed the Berkeley had a top speed of 62 mph and a 0-50mph stat of 30.6 seconds.
