The original Chevrolet Camaro hit the ground running for the 1967 model year as GM’s response to Ford’s super popular Mustang. The Camaro sold very well and by the 1968 model year hit 276,124 units sold (versus 317,404 for the Stang), and while nostalgia keeps the prices higher than an equivalent Mustang coupe, the Camaro has skipped the recent classic car price hike madness (checkout Hagerty valuation here). Hey, the 1980s is calling and they want their offset Centerline style wheels, custom side graphics, and tall seats back. It would be tempting to leave this as a tribute to the 80s custom scene, but I think I’d rather slap some NASCAR style steelies with a meaty tire. Ditch the roll cage if you are going to run this thing on the street, but if you plan on some track days, just cover it good padding and pray you don’t crash on the street without a helmet.
