Scary Cheap: 2005 Subaru Legacy GT
The Subaru Legacy was a wild all-wheel-drive family car available with a twin-turbocharged setup in Japan, but pre-2005, US customers had to live with anemic flat-4 power. That all changed in 2005 with the introduction of the 4th generation model that added a de-tuned version of Subaru’s STI 2.5 liter turbo-4 under the hood. With a few small modifications the Legacy GT can become a seriously fast machine with all wheel drive and a manual gearbox. Find this 2005 Subaru Legacy GT offered for $1500 in Frederick, MD via craigslist. Tip from Jeff S.

There has got to be more to this story…. but someone should be rushing over to Frederick MD to find out.

On the garage floor is that 3 oil catch buckets in a row?
Nice catch. That's likely what they are.
Source: I've owned two of these LGT wagons (manual & auto).
I've seen a few of these on my local CL recently, also a few Outback XTs. I recall some people saying they were utter crap, but others supporting them. Also differing opinions on whether or not the manual is really better than the auto in this application. Curious to hear others' thoughts on this.
I have a 2005 Outback XT, 5MT. Dead reliable if you take care of a few things up front. Mine has 65k miles on it, so I dont know how it will be in 30 years when I hit 150k. :p
Dead reliable? Spoken like someone who hasn't owned one past 90k miles.
It gets ugly, friend.
