The second generation Volkswagen Scirocco took the original Giorgetto Giugiaro design and stretched it into a car that looked less like a hatchback and more like a coupé. It was still based on the VW A1 platform shared with the Golf/Jetta and in the USA you could get an 8-valve or a 16-valve powered version. Today’s example is a “Wolfsburg” Edition, which was a trim package that added some badges and interior accoutrements and used the 1.8 liter 8v engine for power. However, instead of being built at the Wolfsburg plant (like Wolfsburg Golfs/Jettas) the Wolfsburg Scirocco was built at the Osnabrück plant, but it sports some wicked vintage VW of Kearny Mesa license plate frames and expired Cali blue plates.
