Saabaru Mud Flaps: 2005 Saab 9-2X Aero

There is an art to squeezing the maximum amount of money out of your customers. It is actually an art and a science and there are people called marketers who spend their entire career trying to get the consumer to pay more for less…which is the unfortunate reality of a really well prepared used car advertisement. The more time a person spends trying to lure you into buying their car with glossy photos and catchy prose, the more money you are going to have to shell out. On the other hand, a poorly created ad with bad photos is, more often than not, the best way to buy a used car. Always remember, the condition of the car is more important than the condition of the advertising photos — that is something you can take to the bank. It has come time to sell this rare beauty. It’s a 5 speed manual. I’ve owned it for 5 years but only driven for 7 months total since I had to move to japan for 4 of those years.

It runs and drives great! Oil change every 3K miles. Spark plugs replaced within 1.5K miles. It does have a small power steering pump leak.
Tien coilovers
Cobb intake
Unnamed straight pipe exhaust
Unknown wheels.

I’ve never had a problem with this beast.

Air Force personnel have unfailingly good taste in cars. Unfortunately they also know the value of what they have. This seems like a fair price for what you are getting. And can somebody remind me what series of events led to an incredibly high-strung Japanese engine being dropped into a Swedish station wagon?
GM owned Saab and a stake in Fuji heavy industries, the parent of Subaru. The entire car was built by Subaru, with modified nose and rear hatch, better insulation and no roof racks. I owned one, it’s a better looking WRX.
And don’t forget about moving the ignition to between the seats for the Saab version.
Whereupon you can destroy a $750 computer with a $3 coffee. It’s almost as if GM wanted this brand to fail.
CMIIW, but I believe GM had so little respect for the Saab brand they couldn’t even be arsed to move the ignition to its proper, save-the-kneecaps location.
I drove a high-mileage 900 Turbo in high school and they could have put that ignition switch anywhere they wanted — that car was such a blast to drive it could not have mattered less to me. My father later purchased a used 9000 Turbo and except for the maintenance issues that might have been the perfect car. I only drove it a handful of times and it was a magnificent car. I was trying to take off from a stop sign on a slight uphill and I was thinking to myself, “gee, why is the front end of the car bouncing up and down?” Because incredible power to the front wheels, that’s why. Also this from Wikipedia: “The inspiration for the seats was taken by Björn Envall from The Muppet Show’s Pigs in Space.”
I drove a rust-perforated 99EMS through college. Maybe I should rephrase that. Great car, loved it. Saved my life a couple of times (the ladder incident, yikes). Vince mostly enjoyed the one he had a couple of years back, but the shortcomings took their toll. I have seriously thought about trying a classic 900 for our occasional use backup car. Maaaybe. W124 wagon is still the front runner.
I just realized your avatar is a mint-green Aztec wheel! Yes, the 900 I drove was built like a bank vault so I would think it highly crash worthy. Closing the door of that car was immensely satisfying. The closing door sound of my son’s ‘85.5 944 was a close second (pun intended). A 900 SPG is still on my list of cars to try to own some day. I rarely see them for sale.
Ha! It’s a bundt pan.
I’ve got a 9000 Aero that needs to find a home… completely different than a 900, granted, but still.
Years ago when my father was selling his 9000 he refused to sell it to me at any price. He claimed he couldn’t sell the car to me in good conscience given what it would do to my bank account. How has your ownership experience been?
Sweadette. Long as it comes with that side-view mirror.
