S130 Without A Top: 1981 Nissan 280ZX Convertible

Nissan never built a factory convertible version of their 1978-1983 S130 generation 280ZX sportscar, but they should have. Today’s example is an old convertible conversion that was done by Giuliano Verna of Specialty Cars Ltd in Roxborough, PA. Find this 1981 Nissan 280ZX Convertible offered for $17,500 in Philadelphia, PA via craigslist. Tip from Cory.

That skirt and air dam really muck up the looks. I can’t imagine driving a car with half the structure chopped off hard enough that downforce was an issue, never mind the aerodynamics of cutting the roof off.
Somehow this looks like very much like some sort of Triumph roadster from the back. I’m also not sure on the body kit, but the convertible conversion looks like Nissan could have planned it from the get-go. (Looks at a 350Z convertible) Actually, it looks better than some of Nissan’s factory efforts.
If you are going to compare it to something British from the back, the TVR Tasmin / 280i is what it looks like.
