Pregnant Guppy: 1978 AMC Pacer DL
The 1975-1980 AMC Pacer was a fishbowl shaped subcompact car built by the American Motors Corp in Kenosha, WI (also in Mexico City under license via VehĂculos Automotores Mexicanos S.A.). It was slowly fading into obscurity when two rockers named Wayne and Garth painted it with the aura of cool in the 1992 SNL skit-crossover-feature movie Wayne’s World, a now nice ones are worth more than a box of Red Vine’s Super Rope. Find this 1978 AMC Pacer DL here on eBay
bidding for $7,477 reserve-not-met with 2 days to go.
Just how much is an original condition Pacer with only 38k miles on the odometer worth? I haven’t the foggiest idea, but this auction should answer this age old question…if the reserve is met.
A quick peek under the hood shows this moonbuggy still has an original style inline-6, which is either a 232 cubic inch version good for 90 horsepower or a 258 cubic inch version good for 100 horsepower.
A peek in the inside of this terrarium shows a bright red interior that would make any malaise mobile collector green with envy.

Ha ha, you used "nice" and "Pacer" in the same post. You guys crack me up……
How do the dimensions of a Pacer correlate with a C5 Z06 backbone?
Don't like the late hood with the extra grille, but the earlier ones are nice…and they're wide enough that they might even accommodate the full-width 'Vette stuff underneath.
AMC design on a bad acid trip,do like the wagon version better.
Useless pacer fact. The passenger side door is longer than the drivers door. Why for easier entrance to the back seat iirc. Don't know where it learnt that thare pacer fact but it's the only one I know.
If I where to build one of these I think I would start with a 4.0 and build it to take some supercharged boost. And I'd probably start with one with the old schnoz.
