Plus Sized: 1964 Dodge Custom 880 Wagon
There are a few facts of life that you can always count on. One, is that the tooth fairy gets less generous with each tooth, and another is that you can’t beat a good looking classic long roof wagon offered for a reasonable price. Find this 1964 Dodge Custom 880 Wagon offered for $9,000 in Rancho Palos Verdes, CA via craigslist. Tip from LT3k.
The Dodge Custom 88 was a high end full-sized vehicle sold in the Chrysler lineup starting in 1962 as a replacement for the now defunct DeSoto Fireflite. It wasn’t just the Fireflite that was gone, but the entire DeSoto lineup, and Dodge borrowed heavily from the Chrysler Newport to build a full sized car to compete with Chevrolet after accidentally downsizing the entire Dodge fleet.
Power in this 1964 candidate comes from a 383 cubic inch V8 that would have been rated at 305 horsepower and 410 ft-lbs of torque when new. The three speed “push button” automatic wont make for the sportiest of driving experiences, but it make the best of the monstrous amount of torque.

Body looks to be in good shape. Cool dash (equipped with the clock that shows the correct time twice per day) The rear interior roof mounted ac vents I have never seen before.
Push button transmission. Chrysler Corp. had so many innovations in the auto industry but could never seem to get quality under control.
My then GF pops had the the Plymouth sister to this they were avid skiers so every weekend they would head to the Mountains, so i was love sick so a friend of mine and i went up late one night and took the rotor out of the dist.
I got a call Sat morning if i could come look @ there car as it would not start never got caught but i knew how to fix it !
They never knew i did it nice to keep secrets that never got out to till this day !
Absolutely beautiful. Even though it was a Dodge it was still heads and shoulder, style wise, ahead of Buick etc though the conservative front end treatment compared to the '63 and earlier Chrysler products presaged the equally more conservative design cues on the future wagons into the early seventies. So this is the last of the Mohicans as it were in my eyes. We had a '65 Buick wagon in black with tan interior. There is no more utilitarian wagon than that except maybe a WW II German Mess Wagon. This would have been too flashy for my Dad! On another point its hard for folks of a certain age to think of these at this price point. Just sayin
