Parade of Progress: 1939 GMC Futureliner

Wow, how is this car affordable on a DT budget? Errr, it isn’t. It has an asking price just a few dollars shy of $1,000,000. Don’t worry, we haven’t lost our minds. Maybe, but no more than usual. This is just too interesting of a car to NOT feature, so we shall enjoy the parade of GM strangeness, (But we I’d actually buy is that 1955 GMC Bus for $6K.) Anyway, we will be back to featuring custom El Caminos later today. Find this 1939 GMC Futureliner offered for $998,900 in Springfield, MA via fakebroke futurebook.

Seller’s description
UPDATE: SALE PENDING.
Only one of 12 built. Extremely rare opportunity to own one of the most famous vehicles ever built by GM. This vehicle was restored in the late 1990’s. It is retrofitted with a Detroit Diesel 4-71 and Allison automatic transmission. Original gas engine and transmission are included in the sale. It is not perfect, but darn close! Runs and drives down the highway very well at 50+ mph. Light bar works. Sides open & close. Steering was upgraded with power assist. This vehicle is used regularly for shows and events. This is believed to be “#7” of the 12 built by GM for the famous “Parade of Progress”. Please do not waste my time – NO trades, NO ridiculous offers – the price is $998,900.00.

A million bucks and the horn button is missing? C’mon, man!
Well I guess that the 25k limit is off for car week ?
This certainly tops the list of things I want for no good reason, or bad reason even.
Obviously, it would be great to drive this around to vintage races with something inside it, but I can’t think what would be the appropriate GM vintage racer from that period. The 57 Corvette SS?
At least it looks like it would be easy to maintain compared to anything else in that price range.
