Original Fast SUV: 1993 GMC Typhoon

This next car comes as a tip from Matt C who writes; I must take issue with your claim that “the X5M was the original SUV that was faster than it should have been” – this SUV should take that award. Also, its asking price is $4500 less than the X5M you featured. :p. DT: Well, let’s see — ’93 Typhoon 0-60mph in 5.3 seconds, ’93 Corvette 0-60mph in 4.9 seconds. 2010 BMW X5M 0-60mph 4.0 seconds vs 2010 Corvette 0-60mph 4.0 seconds. Okay, the Typhoon was slower than the Vette by a small margin, but I’ll agree that the X5M was perhaps the second SUV that was faster than it should be, but the example we’ve got today has been through a few tropical storms to get where it is today. Look at all the carbon fiber! The thing must fly! Oh, wait, never mind.
Tough call between that and a Rayton-Fissore Magnum, if one could find a Rayton-Fissore Magnum.
Needs love but probably worth picking up and massaging back to something resembling tasteful and clean. Would be cooler as a Syclone!
Umm…the AMG ML55 was what caused BMW to come out with the X5M…just saying…
