Not A Rolls: 1976 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Custom Cloud

The story of the Custom Cloud modified Monte Carlo is long and tedious…and not one I am willing to recount, other than to give you the quick version..which is; from 1973-1977 a small company in Florida put some fiberglass front and rear ends on the 2nd generation Monte Carlo to make it look vaguely (in the same sense that Danny DeVito looks vaguely like Arnold Schwarzenegger) like a Rolls Royce, until the corporate goons at Rolls sued them and stopped the insanity…anyway, you can read the entire story of the Custom Cloud here and here…or you can buy one of the 14 examples built. Find this 1976 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Custom Cloud offered for $12000 in Las Vegas, NV via craigslist. Tip from Rock On!

Only 100 made. 1976 Monte Carlo Custom Cloud Rolls Royce made by Chevrolet.
It’s on the cover of Car and Driver March 1976. Car in very good condition in and out. It is a every day driver. If you see it, you will want it.
63,000 original miles. Second owner. You need to see this car. No matter where you go, people take pictures. It will only go up in value.

See a better way to drive an almost Rolls? tips@dailyturismo.com
Super Fly starter kit. A very limited car for a very limited market. You could buy a real Rolls for that price, but of course the parts and maintenance would be a different ballgame. Both would get looks and attention. What kind of attention do you crave?
This thing with a candy paint 70's low rider setup would be pretty sweet.
Yes, absolutely! That's probably the best thing to do with this car. The bulk of the customizing is already done. Now it just needs hydraulics and paint. I wouldn't even waste money on the interior because it's pretty decent. Runner-up option to building a lowrider would be to make it a donk, but lower is better. Donks are ridiculous… but so is this car.
Don't donk it — Dayton it! It needs "tha switches"
Can we also just take a moment to appreciate that this… uh, thing was on the cover of Car and Driver in March of 1976? The cover. Let that sink in. There's no way anything equivalent to this would appear on the cover of Car and Driver or another big name mag today. This is why I rarely buy new car mags and love hunting weird old issues at swap meets.
Well it sort of looks like a Rolls Royce except that if it were really trying to look like a Rolls-Royce would have the steering wheel out of a 1950 Chevy truck.
I have not seen the interior of a Rolls-Royce since the Germans took over, they still have those truck steering wheels in them?
Funny u can get a real deal RR for less then this 1/3 monte….
Holy crap. I used to see a pretty clapped out one of these running around my neighborhood all the time, and I thought it was something created in someone nutty guy's garage. Which is probably the impression they gave when brand new as well.
