Mr Bean Approved: 1992 Rover Mini Cooper

I’ve been a big fan of the new Mini by BMW product that has been sold since around Y2K, because those cars depreciate quickly and offer a fun modern take on the classic front-drive light car paradigm. The only thing BMW did wrong is to make the car about 10% larger than it should have been, which if you then back calculate to volume, you’ve got a car that is 27% heavier than it should be…and that’s not very “mini”, is it? Forget the modern version of the Mini and get a classic Mini, they built them through the year 2000 and you can back-date the looks to the ’60s like the seller did with this next one. Find this 1992 Mini Cooper offered for $11,500 in Phoenix, AZ via craigslist. Tip from Rock On!

1992 Mini Cooper, JDM, SPI, fuel injected four speed left hand drive model
I have added many parts to this car, I will list most of them. New Hi-Lo struts front and rear, as well as new rubber cones on all four corners. New front disc brake rotors and brake pads, new rear rear wheel cylinders, all new rubber brake lines (3).
Rear shock absorbers, tie rod ends, also a new steering rack ( Big Job! )

Notice custom dash, new grille and other emblems. As well as new upholstery on the seats.
Notice this is a 1992 vintage car but has been modified to look like a very early Mini with the small tail lights and grille. I have it licensed in AZ with Collector car insurance due to the year of manufacture.
The paint looks much better in the pictures than in person, some areas are touched up with a brush, but it is still a very presentable car.
I will have other parts for sale later including another 1992 power plant assembly with accessories.

I approve of this green.
The other thing with the modern not mini enough that has actually sent me into design daydreams of how it could be fixed is the interior. It may be the ugliest dash of all time. Can we work on backdating the not mini enough modern mini’s dash to something that doesn’t look like it was purpose built to get a suburban housewife to exclaim ‘ooh! Isn’t this fun!’.
