Monster: 1971 Chevrolet Camaro

There is this existential question that runs through my head — if the human body replaces all of its cells within a span of 7 years, am I really the same person who did something 7 years ago? I ask this question not just from a statute of limitations perspective, but also from a philosophical question — what makes something a new thing versus just a modified version of the original? To wit, is this next car actually a Camaro, or a tube frame chassis race car with a Camaroish body on top? Find this 1971 Chevrolet Camaro offered for $18,950 in Temecula, CA via craigslist.

Wide Body 1971 Chevrolet Camaro

Currently Registered / Street Legal, Road Race Car.

Performance Built 350 V8, Currently estimated to produce around 400 horsepower. TH350 Automatic Transmission. INCLUDED: Twin Turbo Set Up 350 V8, Estimated to Produce around 800 Horsepower.

This car was built by RJ Bosscher in the 1970’s and it is rumored that Gale Banks had a hand in the build of the additional Twin Turbo engine. The nose of the car is from a 1974 Camaro and the gel coat and paint scheme was applied around the same time and the car has been well kept since then, being freshened up mechanically as needed.

The car has a roll cage in it, Race Inspired Suspension and Steering. A Custom, 1 Off Wide Body Conversion with 18″ wide rear tires. It is very much a road race car, however it has full door panels and dash, power windows (Yes, power windows!) It also has an electric lift hood. This car is engineered to be exactly what it is, a street legal road race car. Drive it to the track for track days and then drive it home… it’s an absolute blast to drive.

If you have any questions, please ask. There’s so much to list it’s impossible to catch it all in one ad so please do feel free to ask questions. The pics tell a lot about the car as well.

Contact and Inspections are welcomed Monday – Saturday, 9am – 5pm.
