Modified G-Body: 1983 Buick Regal

The first generation Buick Regal was just a version of the full-sized Century with some extra options, but in 1978 Buick introduced a new Regal on a downsized A-body (later renamed to G-Body in 1982) that was hit. GM sold plenty when new and today they have a strong cult following — with many owners modifying them to look cleaner and boosting the horsepower of the original V6 or V8 engines. This next one has a late model LS based 5.3 small block (probably an LM7) and is certainly a hoot to drive. Vehicle Details
This is a 2 owner vehicle. This is car was built over the last year. There are a couple of chips on the paint. You can barely see them. It has a built 5.3 bored over to 5.7 with a 4l60e transmission with a 2500 stall converter. Dakota Digital HDX-84B-REG dash, with 84-87 Regal dash. I have the Grand National turbo wheels with BFGoodrich g-Force COMP-2 tires with custom lettering. I also have an excellent set of 695 Riddler wheels 17 inch front and 18 inch rear included. This car is built for cruising but it is fast. Custom interior done. Trim pieces could use a little paint touch up but very unnoticeable. I haven’t had time to drop off to the shop to redo them. Everything works as should. This car is highway ready. I will listen to reasonable offers. I also have the vehicle listed locally so I have the right to end this auction early. God bless and stay safe.

I think this one might blow through your upper dollar limit. Beautiful car but I wouldn’t call a car with 2500rpm stall a cruiser. Fun to watch in traffic though.
When I was a kid we had the 1978 5.0 and when I finally got to drive it, even knowing zero about cars, it was obviously just an awful twitchy flabby skittery thing. I totaled it one sunny day with my mom in the passenger seat by sliding nose-to-tail along the bumper of a dump truck that pulled out without looking. No one was injured and no one was sad. Replaced by an Accord and everyone was happier.
Do people who put this much effort into a Regal care about suspensions? There’s no mention. What’s the usual recipe? It’s not like the Roadmaster where there were Impala police parts.
Nice paint color, +1 for the vinyl roof delete, and the black interior looks sharp. A rattle can of black spray paint will take care of that graffiti on the tires. Maybe ssst sssst the obviously fake wood dash bits too.
Bidding is up to $12,877 with six days left. It looks like he spent his black spraypaint money spraying the underside of the car. I will never understand why people do that unless there is something to hide. I love me some B-bodys but will not be serious about one that has been poorly sprayed underneath.
I meant five days…
The whole appeal of these (imo) was the turbocharged V6 drivetrain. Granted, these really didn’t come into their own until ’86/’87 so ditching this year’s drive train is far from sacrilegious, but even as a Turbo Buick fan, I don’t get the appeal here….. although it does look good and I too dig the color.
Speaking as a current 87 Grand National owner – this is actually pretty cool. So much so, that I’m almost tempted to sell my GN, pocket all the original sale price PLUS appreciation, and buy this for 1/3rd what I sold the GN for and have a more daily drivable car.
