Mine Mine Mine: 1993 Autozam AZ-1

I really don’t understand the Japanese used car market.  On one hand you can’t touch a MkIV Supra for less than $50k, but you could get something that is cooler, more unique, and more Japanese for much less money.  Plus you get gull wing doors and mid engine power.  Find this 1993 Autozam AZ-1 offered for $16,500 in Olympia, WA via craigslist. Tip from Rock On!

The AZ-1 is the most desirable of the 1990’s 10’8″ A/B/C Japanese Domestic Market Kei 660-cc sports cars that includes the Honda Beat and Suzuki Cappuccino. A joint development by Mazda’s Miata team and Suzuki to be sold in Mazda’s JDM Autozam dealerships, the AZ-1 features a composite body with gullwing doors and glass canopy sitting on a steel skeleton monocoque frame. Its razor-sharp handling comes from a featherweight 1587-pound mass, four wheel independent suspension, disc brakes and 2.2 turn lock-to-lock steering.

One of the most jaw-dropping fun cars to drive at any price, this beautiful example is clean & straight from nose to tail — a micro-exotic that is ready to show and go!
