Mid Week Match-Up: Movie Car
Mid Week Match-Up time!! I probably started to appreciate fine cinema around the same time as I found my love of cars…which is likely a typical experience. Thankfully, the world of cinema is infused with the sweet scent of gasoline and you can get faked version of movie cars for less than the cost of the real thing. What movie car would you buy or build? No budget, no limits!
My choice is this 1975 Ford Falcon XB GT Coupe Mad Max offered for $89,995 here on eBay located in Round Lake, IL.
What movie car would you buy?
By "Movie-Car" I'm assuming you mean something that wasn't real, but could be.. like Harold & Maude's Jag as opposed to the Ferrari Daytona in Gumball Rally.. so, given that Professor Fate's Hannibal 8 is just too slow for daily use.. I'll settle with the gadgets and sonorous inline 6 of the original Bond car.

I'd build munster car hernan munsters ride and the underwater 007 car white submersible
Probably cheaper:

My bad, my mind saw s8 on the first one. Here you go

I just ambushed you with a cup of coffee!!
One does not simply find an S8 with a 5-speed to purchase. I really really tried.
Ah yes, the Mad Max Opel was/is a bad mo-fo indeed. For me, without a doubt, the custom 1950 Merc from the Sly Stallone movie 'Cobra' would be my ride. Would make some tweaks under the hood.

That car sure was cool, but I think his F100 in the Expendables is a little more awesome.
A brand new, white Mercedes, 2001 SEL Limited Edition. Moon roof, all leather interior. I got it at a very good price. I paid cash. My cousin, Prince Murray, has a dealership in the valley. He was very nice to me.

I used to work with a guy who goes by the name Z. He owns one of the 3 original Max Max cars and parades it around here sometimes (Lewisville, TX). I don't think he'd part with it for any sort of reasonable amount of money but you can check his car out on youtube. Google Mad Max Lewisville and there are some pretty sweet pics of his car.

Sean, have you read this story? (I'm guessing yes). Best car story I've read this year:
The Original Bullit Mustang resurfaces after 40 years
-Stan (who loves his 2 topless stangaroos, neither of them collectable, both daily drivers)
YES! And I also love the story about the one found in Mexico. Crazy.
Another strange find was Ed Roth's Obritron in Mexico
And the VERY bizarre story of the Phil Spector’s Dayton Cobra
I can't wait to stumble upon a 300sl being used as a ferret coop someday
Here's another insane barn find. Haven't watched this. Going to see if I can find it streaming online:
Ferrari 275GTB and 427 Cobra.. in the same barn?!?
Stan (yeah, *that* Stan…)
The Miura in the original Italian Job , but not the wrecked one thankyouverymuch.

Ahhhh yes, THIS! Might have to slide my custom '50 Merc to second place…
Really hard to beat the Miura, I am hopping on the bandwagon (bullwagon?).
Thank God no one on here said the Bat Mobile or the wayne's world gremlin
Hard to believe that it is the only orange on white one built.

For me it has to be the Renault R5 Turbo II chasing Bond in Never Say Never Again…

When I was at CalArts , Dean Jeffries' place was just south and the "Landmaster" he built for "Damnation Alley" was always parked there. Never saw the movie but always thought the Landmaster was pretty cool. Sort of the ultimate RV.
From what some of the guys that were studying practical prop construction told me, it was completely functional and something of a local legend. This coincidentally was when a transporters carrying dozens of "General Lee" chargers would drive by the school, intact going north, bent in half going south. They shot the exploding gas station scene for Christine just a little down McBean Parkway when I was there too.

I actually know Malcolm and he is a car connoisseur. Not shockingly he has some neat British cars.
No one has offered up the Wayne's World Pacer Stretch Limo? Heathens.

Good one! Not sure if there is another ride out there that so many across the globe would recognize… although this DeLorean comes to mind. Hey, that being said, I change my answer if the Flux Capacitor actually worked. It would be too cool driving down the road in either one of these.
