Mid Week Match-Up: Find This Rambler An Engine
For this week’s Mid Week Match-Up, I’m going to throw a curve ball. Instead of finding a car for a reader, find an engine/transmission for this car.
The car in the photo above is a 1964 AMC Rambler offered for $700 via craigslist in Thousand Oaks, CA (tip from Sean S) without an engine or transmission.
What do you think should power this classic? Comments below.

How come nobody said LS1 yet? This one comes with a transmission.
LS1
I found the perfect engine and transmission donor, if you can remove the transmission's transfer case.
Jeep 4.0 with 5 speed manual on Craigslist
Last incarnation of the AMC straight six and ought to be close to a bolt in.
I say leave the transfer case.. a rambler with low range could be fun.

Right after I saw this car for sale I started the imaginary build.

Looks like some lucky fool already snapped it up!

I always thought that body style was an ideal candidate for finding another donor car so that the front clip could be taken off the donor and massaged it onto the rear of the first car. (Hood becomes trunk and you replace the headlights with big old stop lights from like a '63 Galaxie. (It's that kind of thinking which has gotten me banned from my friends' snow bound pole-barns and denied access to their welding torches.)
what about a 4wd (it is the precursor to the eagles after all!)
