Mid Engine V8: 1954 Hudson Hornet Custom

America.  The United States.  These United States.  Land of the free.  Home of the brave.  I don’t know what else to say, except that no other country in the world would inspire someone to build a mid engine V8 powered ’54 Hudson, much less permit him to drive it on public roads.  Try that in Switzerland.  Find this 1954 Hudson Custom offered for $16,000 in Sylvania (home of the world’s largest factory for grey light bulbs) via craigslist. Tip from Rock On!

A first glance this appears to resemble a ’54 Hudson Hornet, but only in a very vague sense of grill, windshield and the like…everything gets thrown out the window after you get to the back window.  YOWZA!!

Peaking in where the rear parcel shelf should be and you are greet with the aircleaner on top of a 500 cubic inch Cadillac V8.  O beautiful for spacious skies, For amber waves of grain, For purple mountain majesties Above the fruited plain!…oh sorry.  Got lost in the amazing Americana.

A gear tooth brake pedal and food shaped gas pedal compliment the purple interior.  Pictures aren’t really clear enough to assess the condition…but with a V8 in the back seat you won’t have to worry about radio quality.
