Maximum Sunday: 2004 Nissan Maxima SE

All Nissan Maxima…all Sunday long.  Wait, what?  Seriously, it is going to be an all Maxima day here on the web’s best source of El Caminos, monster trucks, and controversial engine swaps.  But none of that today…just pure cheap maximum carnage.  First up is this 2004 Nissan Maxima SE 6-speed offered here on eBay for $5,860 buy-it-now located in Paterson, NJ with 2 days to go.

The sixth generation Nissan Maxima (internal code A34) was built exclusively for the North American market and sold from 2004-2008.  It is easily recognized by the funky mohawk sunroof, technically called SkyView, which this example is thankfully missing.

Powering the A34 is Nissan’s fabulous VQ35DE V6, a dual-overhead-cam 3.5 liter V6 that is rated at 265 horsepower and 255 ft-lbs of torque when mated to the optional 6-speed manual gearbox.  Unfortunately the 6-speed was phased out of the Maxima lineup in 2007 and replaced by an insufferable CVT.

The inside of the A34 Maxima is a combination of hard plastics, poorly painted surfaces, and cheap switches — the early 2000s were not just a low point for Nissan in terms of interior quality but general vehicle quality as well.
