Manual Ice Box: 1990 Honda Accord EX
I’ve had a number of conversations with “in the know” car guys who agree that the market for cheap (sub $4k) cars has changed in the past few years. The days of finding cars that are simply depreciated and not slammed, stanced, bashed, or bro’d for a few thousand dollars is maddeningly behind us. It seems that even the most basic piece of transportation is being offered at a mighty high price…so it is refreshing when something like this next car comes across the DT desk. It has a manual gearbox, a nice clean Honda paint job and interior. Find this 1990 Honda Accord EX offered for $2500 in Chandler, AZ via craigslist. Tip from FuelTruck.

Looks great on the interior and exterior – this is a very clean car for being for ’90. It has power windows, a sun roof, and automatic seat belts. It runs like a dream!
Clutch was replaced at 170k miles, also has a new rack and pinion and lots of new hoses. All scheduled maintenance has been kept up on. AC has been converted to R134 but does not get very cold, maybe needs new freon.
This is good on gas and a great little daily driver – I’m selling it as I got a new Hyundai.
2.2L 5-speed manual, 193,XXX miles, clean title.

Looks like an aftermarket header in there too. This could be a pretty nice score for someone looking for not quite boring basic transportation.
I've found that the sub-$4000 stuff seems to be migrating from Craigslist to Facebook Marketplace. It naturally seeks the cheapest advertising venue.
I noticed the header too– and wondered if it would pass CA smog.
I know what you are saying about Facebook Marketplace…but I just hate the idea of a captive marketplace of the facebash. At least facebook marketplace you are more likely to find an actual car instead of a scammer from somewhere overseas…but uggg…facebook.
Then I suppose I’ll have to bid farewell to all those migrated turismos, as I cannot stomach ever sacrificing an iota of myself to the almighty FB. Uggg indeed. I’ll happily let others do the trolling while I sift through their curated results.
I had an old LX coupe in blue. I'd love to have that one back.
This Honda will easily outlast the new Hyundai
I am the seller of this car! Delivering it to its new owner in a couple of days, but I'm glad to see it here as well. I love(d) this thing!
