LSX Frontyard Swap: 1998 GMC Jimmy

The seller of this next car describes it as “not a hackjob backyard swap”...which makes me wonder, where would you do an LSX swap into a 90s GMC Jimmy? In the realm of places to do swaps, from a Jay Leno style climate controlled garage to a dirt patch behind the Waffle House in Woooostaaaa, I’m gonna lean towards doing my Jimmy swaps at the latter, but I love waffles more than Jay Leno. And I mean that exactly how you might interpret it. Find this 1998 GMC Jimmy offered for $5000 in Northbridge, MA via craigslist. Tip from Cory.

Up for sale is my 1998 LS swapped GMC Jimmy. The vehicle is a southern truck with not a spec of rust anywhere.
The truck was swapped correctly this is not a hackjob backyard swap. Everything in the vehicle works correctly as it should. Truck runs and drives great i would not hesitate to drive it anywhere. There is about 130k Miles on the body and about 80k on the engine – 20k miles on the built 4l60e transmission. Have a dyno sheet somewhere truck made 335whp\315tq on a mild tune.
Truck is stock interior and a complete sleeper.Cash only – NO TRADES
asking for $5,000 OBO
Call or text show contact info for any questions

Info :
2002 5.3 Lm7 engine
Texas speed 220r cam
rebuilt heads\mild mill
Built 4l60e
battery relocated to the trunk
Billet specialties wheels
New tires
Newer brakes
Lowered
If i were to keep it i would Re-run the battery cable to the inside of the cab instead of along the frame – there are no issues with how it is but would be a smarter setup. I would recommend moving the transmission cooler to the grille as it is currently relocated underneath the vehicle (trans temp stays steady as is however)

Captain Pedantic stopped by ( actually he’s a Kentucky Colonel – and what’s the deal with that R sound in colonel?- but I digress ) and left this:
LSX vs LSx
The LSX ( with capitalized “X”) is the racing version of the LS7 engine in the 2006 Corvette but with a cast-iron block for more horsepower. Allegedly LSX engines making as much as 2,000 horsepower have been built. And presumably rebuilt about once a mile.
The LSx with lowercase “x” is not this engine, and this seems to be the LM7 5.3L used in GM trucks AKA Vortec 5300.
Yes, Hugh you are technically correct, but the LSX/LSx name is used all over the interwebs as a generic form of LS1/LS2/LS3…which is the Generation 3 1995+ GM small block. It is not a perfect term, but I’ve seen it easily has much as Camero…so I went with it. I guess this might qualify as an LSx, even though it is the LM7 (cast iron block version of the LS)…I dunno..what’s in a name? (We’ve got an LM7 in our 24 Hrs of LeMons BMW camper and it is way easier to tell people it is an LS..something….so I guess I’m guilty spreading the LieS as much as anyone.)
Well, the comment I had written in the form of a short story about Jay Leno, 50 gallons of maple syrup, (redacted )wearing a hat, and some waffles, seemed a little off-color…
