LS4 V8 Powered Fiero: 1986 Zimmer Quicksilver

The Zimmer Quicksilver is a Fiero based ‘custom’ built in small quantities by the Zimmer Motorcars Corp from 1984-1988. The Quicksilver sits on a stretched Pontiac Fiero frame and the custom coachwork makes it like a Lincoln version of the 2-seat runabout from GM. Today’s Zimmer has a GM LS4 engine in the place of the original hunk low power of iron from Pontiac. Find this 1986 Zimmer Quicksilver offered for $17,000 in Scottsdale, AZ via craigslist. this thing seems to have fixed position quad rectangular headlights visible in all that chrome up front. makes me wonder what the covers at front edge of the hood are for. super high beams? easy access to the windshield washer fluid filler and brake fluid reservoir? , “Hold my Beer ” six-pack receptacles?
I noticed those low-profile headlight units in the bumper too, reckon a PO must have installed those in place of the original parking/signal lights in that spot. If so, maybe the popups serve no purpose now, or maybe they installed fog/driving lights in there.
Zimmers’ brother-in-law no doubt makes bumpers.
I’d take the ’88 Cougar with a stick over this thing in a heartbeat.
I’ve sometimes wondered how these might look given an ’80s Buick T-type cosmetic treatment — paint over the chrome bumpers and chrome sill trim (missing here) in body color or a contrasting metallic graphite color, black out the grille slat inserts, swap to machined-face alloy wheels.
If you ever wondered what the result would be if a Buick Regal raped a Fiero…………..
what, no interior pictures? Wait, never mind….
