Low Cab Forward: 1970 Dodge C600 Swing Nose

This next car comes from an era when medium-duty trucks were wrapped in a form-over-function package of sheet metal, glass, and chrome. It comes with a feature called Swing Nose that opens the front fenders to allow access to the wheels and side of the engine bay. I wish that was a thing on more cars. Find this 1970 Dodge C600 Swing Nose offered for $1000 in Spring Hill, FL via facecraigs swingbook. Tip from Dave in Tampa.

Seller’s description
This is a project!! Rear end is frozen, possibly the drum brakes but not for sure. No starter on the motor, so haven’t tried to do anything with it. Interior is rough, but here. Floor pan needs to be replaced. Just trying to recoup some of what we have in it. It will need to be towed from property.

Can someone clarify what function this tiny wheelbase / big engine trucklet served? And then explain why I want one so much?
You need to ask Ponch.
