Lover or Louver: 1988 Saab 900 Turbo SPG

The Saab 900 Classic was built by Saab from 1978 through 1994. It is a very different beast from the Saab 900 NG (New Generation) that was built on a GM2900 platform. The OG 900 is really just an updated Saab 99, which means you get an engine mounted backwards at a 45 degree slant over the front wheels and a surprising amount of turbocharged performance. From a roll, a vintage Saab 900 turbo will hang with all of the best sports cars from the era in a straight line and the double wishbone suspension means it will also take the turns better than most of the junk on the road. But the best part of this next car is the louvers. Find this 1988 Saab 900 Turbo SPG offered for $10,000 in Reading, PA via craigslist. Tip from Cory & Sean.

Very clean classic Saab SPG with rebuilt engine and transmission,Aero 9000 wheels(rims), shadow SAAB louver, whale tale spoiler wing, momo racing pedals ,extremely rare colorado red leather momo steering wheel in mint condition made in Italy 1984. Body restored and rust professionally mitagated..the actual miles on the odometer 235xxx …the rebuilt engine has less then 7000 miles in it and the transmission less then a 1000.I have all paper work and receipts and a complete work history on the car since 1988.

See a better way to drive something that is louvtastic!?!? tips@dailyturismo.com

The Pequod sinks, Ahab beckons?
Gosh this looks nice!
Rust “mitigatedâ€. Not removed, but mitigated. That’s not really comforting to read. It sounds like a subtle way to say “covered with undercoatingâ€.
This is a cool car and probably a hoot to drive, but my favorite part is the push-button phone still mounted to the dashboard.
We love Saabs, but brown steering wheels do not belong in black interiors. Just saying.
I was looking for one of these or a 9000 recently and was talked out of it due to the absence of a Saab specialist anywhere nearby. Went for a 9-5, which is still mostly a Saab. I drew the line at 2005 when the Buick dashboards appeared, bleh.
You, me, 9000 aero and an epic trip south for you post COVID?
