Louvers and Stripes, Oh My! 1982 Toyota Tercel SR5

The last time I posted a Tercel, I made the mistake of calling it a Corolla…which CFlo caught and pointed it out. So this time I’m calling it a Turdcel, because even though this next car might have some wicked SR5 stripes on the side and louvers to die for…it’s got a seriously scuzzy headliner and a case of paint psoriasis that’ll take more than the potentially deadly ointment they are always trying to sell me in commercials (you know the one where the lady is running around in shorts and playing tennis and the calm doctorish voice warns you about fungal infections and travel from certain third world countries — are they reading my browser history, how do they target these ads on the TV so well??) Anyway…I wish this car was more of a survivor and less of an active patient. Find this 1982 Toyota Tercel SR5 offered for $2999 in Suwanee, GA.

Louvers need to make a comeback.
Whoa… that’s pretty close to me.
I have zero earthly reason why I should buy it, though. And I do not have time to swap in a rotary or some modern 200+ hp four banger. And that would also require converting it to rear wheel drive. That is not a good use for the 7 1/4″ axle I intend to remove from the Dart.
Yeah, I’ll keep telling myself that. A lot.
Note engine orientation then reconsider your stance on a “conversion” to RWD.
;^)
Early Tercels are weird – they’re front wheel drive with a longitudinal engine, as if they were trying to follow French designs.
Or Swedish >°)))彡
Sorry for being so pedantic last time Vince 😉
This red one looks like it would almost be worth saving. Carefully remove 100% of the parts, fully restore the shell, then reinstall everything. Sit in your shiny new Tercel without a care in the world, because you won’t be able to afford to do anything else.
