Looking Good: 2008 Audi A8L Quattro

This next advertisement is a bit frustrating. I saw a new Audi the other day and was totally unimpressed with the styling. I think it was the new A6, but it looked like a Hyundai. No, it looked like a 10 year old Hyundai because new Hyundais are good looking. New Audis are just boring, but what frustrates me about this next advertisment is that older (2008-era) Audi’s are gorgeous, so why wouldn’t you included some photos of this 2nd generation D3/4E A8L is a mystery to me. Find this 2008 Audi A8L Quattro offered for $9,500 in Diamond Bar, CA via craigslist.

Dang, CL already says “posting expired.” I am not surprised — $10k for a 2008 A8L that averaged under 7k miles per year and the entire air suspension has been replaced with OEM parts by a dealer? That price is a frikken steal. I’d pay that damn near sight unseen. My first thought was to sell my own ’06 A8 and replace it with this beauty. Alas.
One small nit with the ad — the W12 A8L was featured in Transporter, not the 8 cylinder car. Might be the identical body work, I don’t know.

It’s not uncommon to have several “back up” cars in movies that look the same for the cameras but have different internals. Used for different things (like jumps, crashes, etc).
My question: Is it a salvage title? Was it wrecked or otherwise tweaked in the Transporter movie? Because that might explain the low, low price.
-Stan (the movie-buff Stan who loves those cars… but would not necessarily want to own some of them…)
Ah, I had interpreted the line “the car was showcased in the movie” to be as a general statement as opposed to being specific to this car. That would indeed be a significant bump in cool factor. I’m not certain what (if any) differences there are between the W12 and the V8 versions other than the engine. Maybe they are perfect stand-ins. Of course if they dropped this one off of a train then that is less than ideal!
As far as price goes $9,500 isn’t crazy low — the Kelley Blue Book private party value on this car is $7,500 assuming it is in very good condition. A8 used values are rock-bottom. The trade in value on this car is $4k. The new OEM air shock system is probably a $5k expense which is what made this particular car so attractive to me.
