Last Minute Stay of Execution: 1980 Chevrolet Chevette V8 Swap
The Chevette never had a chance. It was born with a face that even a mother couldn’t love and a body that was destined to be crushed like a legless roach on a sunny doorstep. Uggg, put that thing out of its misery before it gets in the house...except this squishy mutant has a secret. A V8 secret. Find this 1980 Chevrolet Chevette with V8 swap offered for $4200 in Billings, MT via craigslist. Tip from Rock On!

1980 chevy chevette… sleeper.
350 V8, Turbo 350 trans.
All tucked under the stock hood.
I tried to retain as much of the stock original equipment as possible on this swap.
New tires, new block hugger headers, new exhaust, new driveline.
Very clean car to begin with, only 48k original miles.
All chrome trim, bumpers, caps and beauty rings and all glass are in excellent condition.
You’d never know this little car has a V8 (…until you start it).
All factory suspension was retained – rear gears are 4:11’s from GM.
Used small block chevy motor mounts, relocated steering rack, Borgesson single HD u-joint for steering. I designed the front floor so it can be removed for easy access to trans and motor. Everything is in place and is solid. If you’ve ever done a swap like this you know the hard part is done. Finish building to suit your vision. Starts at the touch of the key, runs fine, has a little valve noise but nothing big.
Excellent head start on sleeper – muscle car !
I have a ton of work into this car, so I’ll answer your questions over the phone rather than having a 10 mile ad. Serious inquiries only. Asking $4200 obo.
((may be interested in trade for a 4 wheeler ATV of equal value, or partial trade toward price))
My cell has a Texas prefix but am here in Billings by 6th and Central.
Thanks for looking

Yeah baby, that's what Chevrolet should have done in the first place. I would try to lose some weight over the front end with aluminum heads, intake and water pump. Get a smaller Optima battery and shorten that upper radiator hose.
Exhaust exiting under the passenger floor, check.
Original suspension retained, check.
What's not to love??
Chevettes were scary enough to drive with 63 HP!!!
WOW! I could have had a V8!
I agree hard step on loud pedal rearend will be a no .11 twist in 2
A new entry for unsafe at any speed.
All the fun of ice racing year round!
Probably those skinny tires are what keep this from really being crazy unsafe. Sticky tires would break rear end and overload the suspension.
Original suspension and those tiny, skinny tires. What could possibly go wrong when you mash the go fast peddle?
4.11 gearing explains why a stock Chevette can't get above 65…
The gearing actually helps with the low hp they will break 80mph stock if you want to rev the piss out of them lol
