Kustom Ghia: 1968 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia

The Type 14 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia used a unique combination of Karmann built sheet metal, General Motor’s first generation F-body Camaro and Ford’s Mustang II and ...wait…whatYou say the Karmann Ghia isn’t based on an updated ’57 Chevy platform…somebody better tell this guy.  Find this 1968 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia here on eBay bidding for $3,550 reserve-not-met with 3 days to go, located in Sheffield Lake, OH.

Perhaps this car should be called the Cartman-Ghia, because it combines American fatman attitude with the classic lines from Luigi Segre of the Italian carrozzeria Ghia.  It would be nice to know a little more information about the “custom frame” that this thing sits on, but it looks well done.

Powering the GMia is a small block Chevy V8 with an unknown build specification, but given the level of bling I would expect something between 350-400hp.  Shifting is accomplished with a Turbo 350 slushbox with a drag racing style shifter setup.
