Kermit’s Wagon: 1952 Chrysler Town & Country Wagon

The Town & Country name  is currently plastered on the back of a soul sucking minivan, but there was a time when it was proudly plastered on a the back of a wood-sided steel-roof equipped wagon way back in 1941.  In 1951 the woodie version was discontinued and the T&C name was applied to Chrysler’s full sized steel sided wagon.  Find this 1952 Chrysler Town & Country Wagon offered for $15,000 in San Jose, CA via craigslist.  Tip from Kaibeezy.

The seller doesn’t include much info about the car in the listing, the entire contents is as follows:  Great running, 52 town & country, 331 hemi, runs strong! Come checkout! this is a great deal. These are hard to find, don’t have time for it! Would like too see it enjoyed

Under the hood is a 331 cubic inch HEMI V8 (originally called the FireDome) that was good for 180 (SAE gross) horsepower and 312 ft-lbs of torque and mated to what appears to be a Fluid-Matic transmission, which used a torque convertor in the place of a flywheel but is still shifted with a conventional clutch and 3-speed manual box.  The only difference is that the torque convertor allows the car to come to a stop and it won’t stall with the clutch engaged.
